"Most golfers have some emotional connection to the game of golf. Sometimes those emotions may include frustration and anger, but overall there is a peace that comes from being away from a ringing phone and painful traffic and enjoying a beautiful sunny day walking down a pristine fairway. Other emotions may be more personal – like how you started playing golf. That is my story.
"I am one of 6 boys and as crazy as it sounds, my dad would take all 6 of us out to play golf. He loved the game and he was at his happiest spending time with his sons on the course. It was a mixture of quality time and competition (with some serious smack talking). Those 6 boys are all adult men now and The Griffin Boys still play golf – some more than others.
"Our dad lost his last match – a short battle against cancer. Although he has been gone since 2002, we still miss him greatly and bring out some of his best lines when out on the course. Our mother supported those times with his boys, and sadly she also was a victim of cancer and left us in 2015.
"As a tribute to my father, William Orlando 'Landy' Griffin Jr., and to my mother, Peggy Griffin, Vintage Golf Gifts supports research for the fight to cure cancer. We donate a minimum of 20% of all profits to cancer research. This may be in the form of product donations for tournaments that raise money for cancer research, or deeply discounted pricing for large quantity orders that benefit the cause." - Derek
